We'll cut to the chase and explain why THESE 10 accessories are worthy of your hard earned money! We went with the essentials.
While I could make a list of GREAT accessories for the Steam Deck far exceeding just 10 things - I wanted to list ten of the MOST essential and important accessories you might want to buy that I already own or WOULD buy for myself. You wont find any fluff here like you do on some other sites, THESE are truly some of the best, essential and my FAVORITE accessories for the Deck.

Some people say ‘go big or go home’ and this is the perfect example for the Steam Deck. Even if you splurged for the 512gb - it wont be long till you’re having to pick and choose which games are worthy of your storage. With some games taking up as much as 140gb+ of storage you really want as much storage as possible and this is my pick. You’ll have plenty of space for all your steam library as well as extra space for things like emulation and roms (if you should want to go that route - stay tuned for our Emudeck guide coming soon here on PixelBuys)
- Our second pick: 🔥 The Sabrent Rocket Q4 1TB - if you can’t quite splurge on the jumbo 2TB option then the 1TB variant may be fine for your needs!
Yep, our #2 on our Top 10 list is storage again. I really believe storage is one of the best investments for your Steam Deck and while MicroSD’s don’t give you the raw speed an SSD would - this 1TB is an affordable yet fast storage upgrade. Whether you want to upgrade storage via the MicroSD alone or pair it with an SSD upgrade like I did - this is one of the BEST ones you can get.
What’s most important when you are out and about gaming 🤔 👀 you guessed it! BATTERY LIFE. Well I’ve searched for the most capable yet affordable external battery pack for that I’d buy for myself - and this is it. This Anker battery bank has a whopping 25,600mah capacity and supports 87W output (way beyond the Steam Decks needs) and not to mention it comes with a pretty nifty 65W wall charger that you can use to charge the battery or give the Steam Deck a boost (whilst your battery is being used for something else). This is a beast of a battery for the price, but stay tuned to PixelBuys for more premium high end alternatives we will be covering soon!
There’s times when you just want to kick back and dock the Steam Deck to your TV for some big-screen gaming and while hooking up a gamepad is all fine and well - there’s times you just need a keyboard and trackpad… whether it’s dancing with the desktop mode or moving files around, being able to do so without hassle is a luxury you can have with this neat little Bluetooth backlit keyboard and trackpad. Quickly navigating desktop view, renaming files/folders or just browsing whilst away from the deck is just so nice with this.
If you could ever have JUST ONE cable to rule all cables this for me would have to be it. It’s the first cable I’ve had that’s SUPER flexible but NEVER tangles and it supports up to an impressive 100W. I’ve got tired of braided cables that fray and pick up dirt as well as those flexy cables that somehow tangle themselves in a knot that a boy scouts leader would be envious of. I’ve purchased SEVERAL of these cables - they are my favorite and I’m sure they’ll be yours too.
- Our second pick: Anker 543 USB C to USB C Cable - that supports a whopping 140W and is only about 12-13 bucks! I can’t speak for it’s tangle-free abilities though.
If you cherish your Steam Deck and you’re not too keen on having it scuffed up, dropped or worse - leading to a frustrating RMA process then this is without a doubt the BEST case out there and it’s from JSAUX. It comes with an optional front-cover to keep the face and screen protected when travelling (or shoving into a bag.) It covers the edges, back and side but more excitingly - it also has an entire ecosystem of accessories you can latch onto the back - like a battery powered cooler, a USB-C dock and a battery holder strap if you just want to straight up slap a battery pack on the back of your Steam Deck 😍⚡️ for that neverending POWAH!
7. Skull & Co. Skin, CQC and FPS Thumb Grips Joystick Cap Analog Stick Cover for Steam Deck and ROG Ally
You will be forgiven for doubting how much of a difference can a little cap of rubber can make to your Steam Deck gameplay… but BOY OH BOY you couldn’t be more wrong. These things will level-up your gameplay in just about every genre of game (FPS, Racing, RPG’s like Baldurs Gate) and give you superior control and a wider stick radius letting you crank up the sensitivity. It’s also MUCH more grippy than the default sticks. These come in a range of cool colors and in my opinion are a MUST-BUY. You can even stack them 😉
Sometimes it’s just nice to kick back on the sofa or at your desk and play/stream Steam Deck on the big screen. Well you can either fiddle with an annoying floppy dongle you half-heartedly bought for another device… OR you can step it up to the big leagues and treat yourself to this RGB dock from JSAUX. It has frikking RGB darnit and it’s made by a pretty reputable company. What more could you want.
A quick and easy mod for those of you retro tech lovers (or 90’s kids like myself) who appreciate seeing all the goodies, chips and such in your devices. JSAUX are selling transparent back plates (and front plates) for the Steam Deck. This can be an inexpensive and easy mod to your Steam Deck that can transform the way it looks! Stay tuned for our tutorial here on PixelBuys [coming soon] but in the meantime, it just involved unscrewing 8 screws, popping off the stock back-shell and snapping on the new one. Don’t forget to remove your microsd beforehand!
Last and probably least, you may want to protect that screen from scratches, cracks or worse! So it wouldn’t hurt to buy this handy dandy two-pack from yet again JSAUX! It even comes with a little alignment tool.
